"Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget." -G. Randolf

I realize I haven't posted in a bit but this week has been a tough one. We unfortunately received news of the sudden death of our friend, Cam, this week. We were introduced to him through his girlfriend, Sandy, and over the last few years our friendships have truly blossomed with this great couple. I have known Sandy for many years now and our friendship only continued to grow with the introduction of Cam into her life. We have great memories of mountain biking trips with them - especially Matt as he and Cam ended up getting lost together during a bike trip to Jasper but more so we simply enjoyed their company. My heart aches to write this post as the news is still shocking and to be so far away from our friends doesn't help. The last few nights Matt and I have talked about our great times with Cam and I guess it is suppose to be a form of catharsis yet it brings sorrow to our hearts when the reality surfaces again that he is truly gone. We will miss you Cam!! Sandy we love you very much and our thoughts and prays are with you!
Sorry to bring the sadness to the post but we need to recognize those that are important in our lives as it seems our world moves so quickly around us and we sometimes forget those that made us who we are today.
Here are some photos that have seemed to brighten up our days...
Tricked you! This is not Liam but rather his buddy, Gavin, celebrating his 1st birthday.

Okay this is really the photo finale

I have somewhat gotten over the loss of the Oilers due to the fact that summer has finally started here in Chilliwack. Rumor has it that the temp will be in the high 30s next week...wow but you know weather forecast not always reliable so we'll see.

Like I promised the very last photos from our trip to Edmonton.

FRIDAY NIGHT PARTY

hmm what's wrong with the above picture? Let's see: missing the letter 'e' on the word welcome, I'm pretty sure last time I checked my name had a 'q' in it not a 'g' and finally when did I name my son 'Rian'...oh the Hong Kong Bakery when will you actually follow the paper that my mom wrote all this information on. haha

My Top Fives

After a wondeful week in Edmonton we have all settled back into our life in Chilliwack. I thought I would use this post to simply reminsice about our great week back 'home'...

My top 5 things I miss about Edmonton (in no particiular order):
1. Oilers Fever - it was awesome seeing so many houses and businesses decked out in Oilers' banners along with Oilers shirts everywhere. Game 7 tonight they're going all the way!!!
2. The big sky of Alberta - so we had a lot of rain last week in Edmonton but man that sky is gorgeous!
3. My Family - yep they're awesome people every single one of them. That's all I can say because other wise I am going to be an emotional mess.
4. My friends - now I realize that I didn't get to see everyone which I apologize for, however those that I did get a chance to visit you make me miss Edmonton more than ever. It is nice to know that you can go away and come back and the relationship you have will always stay the same. (sniffle sniffle)
5. The vibe of Edmonton - just plain friendly all the time...who could ask for more.

Top 3 things I don't miss very much about Edmonton (see less things to be unhappy about when talking about the City of Champions especasilly tonight!! woo Go Oilers!!)...
1. Mosquitos - what the? I was out for an hour the other night and got 10 mosquito bites...yep my legs are red from itching them I know it's a bad habit but whatever helps.
2. Whitemud traffic - you know i have moved to a small city when I like to complain about traffic.
3. Rain which caused the Wednesday night Pedalhead ride to be cancelled...don't worry i will participate in one of these rides by the end of the summer.
4. Not seeing everyone you want to see...I guess that's not the fault of Edmonton but hey I am still upset about it.

Here's the continuation of photos from our last post.

A special baby shower and of course The Oilers!!

Today we hosted Sam Kurytnik's baby shower at our house...okay so he's 2 months old already but hey every kid likes a party no matter how old they are! We had a great time as everyone brought over a favorite dish to share and we just enjoyed a nice afternoon together catching up and hanging out. Sam is such a great baby who loves to be cuddled and I know it will be great having Liam and Sam grown up together. :)

After a long day of partying...

After the wonderful afternoon party we had another event to gear up for...Game 3 of the Oilers-Hurricanes Stanley Cup Final! My brother event phoned us from the game tonight to see if Liam was watching the game and he was!

Go Oilers Go!!!!

See you later!

Stomach flu, relatives visit, Chilliwack Lake, Sasquatch sighting, Vancouver visit...yep one week in the life of Liam!

As the title states we have had a full week of ups and downs. Let us begin the journey...

STOMACH FLU...holy smokes can you think of the last time you had this?! Anyways unfortunately our little Liam caught it from somewhere and it turned his happy world upside down into a vortex of pure unhappiness (that's what happens when you keep vomiting up your favorite foods). He battled the flu for about a weeks time but he has made a full recovery. Who would have thought the flu would bring out new tooth at the same time...(thats' right he's got 4 now)

RELATIVES...the same weekend as Liam battled the flu my cousin Kim, her husband Luke, my Auntie Cecilia, and Uncle Lloyd came for a visit. I felt bad after telling Kim what an easy baby Liam has been and how he is not a handful at all he brings out the projectile puking and feverish crying. Since Kim and Luke are expecting in October I guess this experience gave them some insight into having a baby...the not so much fun part. :) We loved having them visit and I know it is going to be awesome having a new little cousin in the world in the fall.

Auntie Kim, Liam and Mom hanging out!

CHILLIWACK LAKE RETREAT...on Sunday and Monday we attended the Residents Retreat at Chilliwack Lake Campground. Liam still not feeling well just perferred to hang out in his fleece blanket and be held which was just fine by Matt. He was a great sleeper, on his first camping trip, just snuggling up to mom and dad in our tent. One problem when dawn breaks in the wilderness babies are ready to get up so we spent the early morning hours having Liam roll around, pinch our noses, and make noises by stratching at the tent. However, the highlight of the weekend was our Sasquatch sighting! The Sasquatch even drinks Kokanee like the commercials! Amazing!

STOMACH FLU...I know I mentioned it already however this time the victims were Matt and I. Yep, we had an awful Monday night and Tuesday dealing with this nasty virus...I truly realized with how awful I felt the experience must have been horrible for Liam. I really felt sorry for him so I fed him some mango frozen yogurt...you know what good parent do. haha

VANCOUVER VISIT...Liam and I headed into Vancouver for two days to see Matt and hang out. We were so generously put up by Paul for the two days and had a great time at his place...especially Liam as he try to terrorize Paul by pulling everything off the shelves. We had a great visit with Cam, Carmen, Andy, and Saxon! Come to the 'Wack soon.

Hey Saxon, what cha reading?

Uncle Cam helps out with Astronaut training!

LIAM CONTINUES TO AMAZE...latest update on this munchkin is his constant pulling up on furniture has caused him to stand on everything. I guess he could be walking soon (Oh my goodness) but I"ll keep you on the up and up.

Have a good one!

Love,

The Robertsons
